Winter Festival 2021

For the first time ever, Woodside celebrated the festive season with a two week long Winter Festival. The festival has been designed to celebrate the achievements of our pupils and to share with our community.

The festival kicked off with a food bank appeal for Haringey Food Bank, various cereals, canned goods, and other non-perishable items were spotted in donation boxes. Once again, the Woodside community has come together to make an impact on those around us, and it’s great to see everyone getting involved.

The award-winning Equalities Group ran a pop-up bakery at lunchtime to raise funds for two charities which they felt reflected the concerns of our students. They chose, Solace, a charity which supports women and children facing domestic violence in London, and AKT, a charity that supports young LGBTQ+ homeless people.

On Friday 10th December, our annual Christmas dinner brought many of our pupils to the canteen to celebrate their hard work during the Autumn term. Filled with crackers and laughter, it was great to see so many of our young people enjoy Christmas dinner with their friends.

To round things off, our Winter Fete welcomed the local community with festive stalls offering various snacks, hot drinks and Christmas products. Mrs Alpdogan spoiled us with some tasty Turkish cuisine whilst Mrs Jay treasure and Mr Watson indulged us with some home baked cakes and cookies. There were also a book stall for our avid readers, a craft stall selling homemade candles and fancy notebooks, a games stall for the competitive bunch and even a badge-making stall with Mr Price.

Overall it was a great afternoon and we can’t wait to do it again next year.
