Over the past term Woodside High School’s team of budding songwriters in Years 8 and 9 have been taking part in songwriting workshops with songwriters Laura Parfitt and Gareth Owen. As part of Haringey Music service’s songwriting project for secondary schools, music students have been learning from industry experts about how to take their experiences, dreams, hopes and challenges and to channel them into a song!
Our students' creative efforts culminated in performances alongside a number of other secondary schools from the borough on Thursday 8th June at New River Studios where their songs were recorded and performed in a creative, friendly and supportive atmosphere.
A special guest - Charlie Pinder - who works as an A&R in music publishing, was present at the performances and provided detailed feedback about each song performed. Our students were praised for thier amazing musical ideas, expressive lyrics and confident performances - our talented Mario Tacarelli was named the next Elton John!
Congratulations and a huge well done to Amerisa Nutaj, Mahema Khalam, Zakiel Campbell, Edson Cardoso, Fatima Kiani, Paris Da Silva, Titi Abebe, Mario and Doni Tacarelli, Lava Amen and Brianne Pinkney. Thank you for representing our school so well!
