The CurriculumTeaching will be most effective if designed to address the learning needs of individual students in our classes. The school recognises the importance of providing a needs-led, personalised curriculum for all our students. The school has addressed secondary curriculum changes and determined that lessons should seek to emphasise development of Personal, Learning, Thinking and Enterprise Skills (PLTES) and Functional Skills at all possible opportunities. To ensure successful teaching and learning, teachers are expected to use all available information, including prior attainment and assessment data.
Teachers have access to lesson plan templates on the school network to use to prepare lessons and create lesson plan banks. Heads of Department routinely collect teacher planners to monitor effectively planning. These may be monitored at any time by the senior leadership team, particularly during lesson observations.
The structure of lessons is expected to follow guidance found in the Teaching and Learning framework.
