The Curriculum

CURRICULUM INTENT:

To create a personalised curriculum that promotes a love of learning; provides breadth of knowledge and skills; that is enriching and supportive and seeks to bridge the cultural knowledge gap in order to provide a platform for our students to succeed in whatever they aspire to do.

We believe in a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum approach in which students study a full range of traditional subjects throughout this key stage.

Key Stage 3

Students at Key Stage 3 are in Years 7, 8 and 9

Subjects taught include:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Science
  • Humanities (Geography and History)
  • Languages (French or Spanish)
  • Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Creative Arts (Drama, Music, Art)
  • Physical Education
  • Personal, Religious and Social Studies

Students in Year 9 will be able to personalise their curriculum further via The Elective Curriculum.

At the end of Year 9, Students will also select their GCSE options subjects in preparation for starting their GCSE’s in Year 10.

THE ELECTIVE CURRICULUM

The Elective curriculum allows year 9 students the chance to shape their curriculum by allowing them to focus on a broad range of subjects as they start to explore their future interests and prepare themselves for their GCSE options in at the end of year 9. 

The Elective curriculum provides a with a wide range of stimulating courses that allow students to have a deep learning experience which will prepare them well for future GCSE studies.

The Year 9 curriculum next year will consist of: English, Maths, Science, PE, History, Geography, PRS and French/Spanish. In addition, students will choose three subjects from the range of elective courses outlined below.
