World Aids Day

On the 1st December, World Aids Day, our Year 7 Council and our students taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, worked hard to raise money and awareness for World Aids Day.

They put posters up around school and sold red ribbons to students and staff all day. A group of students worked hard with Ms Shaw and Ms Crooks in the Food Technology room, baking biscuits decorated with red ribbons drawn in icing to sell on the day.

The students sold the biscuits at break and lunch time to raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust, a charity which supports and empowers people living with HIV and Aids in the UK.

It was a very busy day, and the students confidently answered questions about the importance of marking World Aids Day and raising awareness. We were delighted to be thanked on Twitter by the Terrence Higgins Trust for making a difference. Well done to Ms McCarten, Mr Connell, Ms Shaw, Ms Crooks and all the students involved.
